The 15th International EnKF Workshop
May 11-13, 2020
Hotel Vestlia Resort
The ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) and its many variants have been proven effective for data assimilation in large models, including those in atmospheric, oceanic, hydrologic, and petroleum reservoir systems. By bringing together technical experts, practitioners, researchers and students for presentations and informal interchange of information, we aim to share research results and suggest important challenges that have yet to be addressed. EnKF Workshop 2020 (The 15th International EnKF Workshop) is arranged by NORCE Energy in collaboration with the Nansen Center (NERSC) and Equinor.

Call for abstract: Deadline Februrary 01, 2020
We welcome abstracts on both new developments and applications of data assimilation algorithms, including but not limited to, ensemble-based methods and other Bayesian and/or nonlinear approaches. Abstracts on applications are encouraged to discuss limitations and suggest further developments of the assimilation methods. The accepted abstracts will be scheduled for either oral presentation or poster presentation. This workshop does not publish full papers, so submission of full paper is not required. To facilitate the workshop organization, we encourage our participants to submit abstracts with full information of all authors (e.g., name, affiliation, etc.). About one page must be e-mailed to Xiaodong Luo (email@example.com).
In addition to the workshop, there will be a crash course on data assimilation, which is arranged separately by NERSC, and will take place in Bergen the week before the EnKF workshop, see the link Data Assimilation Crash Course

Deadline for workshop registration: April 20, 2020
As the coronavirus is spreading worldwide, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) has published guidelines on how Norway should handle the virus. These guidelines will apply to the forthcoming EnKF workshop. Depending on the still very uncertain development of the situation, we might have restrictions in receiving participants from certain countries, as listed on the FHI web page. Link
For this reason, we have further extended the registration deadline to the 20th of April. We hope this will help our participants to better plan their trips, and we also suggest that our participants check the FHI webpage for updated information, before registering for the workshop.
In case that you have paid the registration fee, then Individual cancellations before the 20th of April will be refunded except for a 5% administration fee. The amount of refunding for cancellations after the 20th of April will have to be decided accordingly, depending on the actual costs that we need to figure out by that time.
Workshop accommodation information:
The workshop will start early on Monday, 11 May, so it’d be best that our participants could arrive at Geilo on Sunday, 10 May. We have reserved a limited number of rooms with the Hotel Vestlia Resort. Workshop participants can directly book rooms with the hotel (https://vestlia.no/en/) at the price of NOK 927 per night including the breakfast. To get this price please book before 20 April.
